I had the pleasure to photograph this sweet and beautiful family this past spring. I loved being able to capture the memories that were so special to this family. It was their daughter’s first birthday! I of course cannot get over capturing her in her adorable pink high-chair and of course we cannot forget all the awesome ONE props that mom made just for this session.
This location happen to be the perfect backdrop for this session and I cannot be anymore happy with the outcome of these beautiful memories that were captured.

I love being able to capture families and their memories, this one happens to be my all-time favorite of 2015!

I think being a photographer is a great thing, but a lot of times I do not get to capture the moments I should. The new age everything is taken with your cell phone and I am so guilty of snapping pictures at home of my girls on my cell phone. I sadly do not spend enough time photographing my girls like I should, in fact I spend less time using my camera these days. It’s always something that happens often, I say similar to a writers block.. I get caught up in family life and always put my passion and art to the side. I am happy that I am able to pick up my camera on beautiful days like this and photography my goofy and very difficult little girls who do not like to have their picture taken anymore. It is very hard to see that in these images but I promise the outtakes are proof. I am blessed to be able to capture these memories for my daughters, as they know how much I adore them and live to make their childhood full of happiness.

1. Tell me a little about yourself? Kelsey Carlson. I’m a Culpeper transplant from Northern Virgina via UVA. I’ve been in Culpeper for almost 6 years, and absolutely love it! My boyfriend lives out in the county, and we have two fur babies, Max & Miley, who basically rule the house…and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

2. How long have you had your business? About 6 and a half years.

3. Was this business a dream of yours since childhood or did it just come to mind one day? I came across my business by chance. My aunt, Sharon Clark, owns Pepperberries and start this store. I used to be the store manager and became owner in August of 2011. I had hopes of being a chef, but decided it wasn’t for me…through a couple trial and error jobs, I ended back in retail (something I did in high school and college). I quickly realized that this is what I was meant to do!

4. What is your favorite thing about your business? The people! I love being around people…especially new people. I could talk all day if need be (sometimes I have to remind myself to be quiet!), so I love when new customers come into the store.

5. What is your least favorite thing about your business? Really? Nothing. Though…if you ask me on Christmas Eve, I may tell you wrapping presents!

6. What are some of your goals for your business that you want to reach this year or 5 years from now? I always try to adapt to what’s new, but it’s important to me to stay to the store’s original purpose.

7. What goals have you achieved since being in business? I’d say owning a successful business before age 30 is my favorite.

8.What is your favorite item that you sell: TOMS. They’re such an excellent company to work with and I”m proud to help support their mission.

9.What time of the year is your businesses season? (or month) The holidays…November & December.

10. What is your favorite part of being on Davis St? The fellowship among the merchants. Everyone really looks out for each other…it’s a great group to be a part of.

11. Where do you hope to see your business in the next 5-10 years? Right here in Downtown Culpeper doing the same thing we’ve always done 🙂

“U Me Prom” | Prom Portraits | Chancellor High School | Riverbend High School, VA

A few weeks ago I was heading to a conference in Fredericksburg. On my way I seen a boy decorating a fence with white cups and a roses spelling out “U Me Prom” I couldn’t help myself and stop to take pictures and find out the story. I was so happy to be apart of Mike and his gorgeous girlfriends prom portraits. The sky was dark gray and gloomy with thunder roaring in the background. We manage to get the entire session over with before the rain storm came in. They both looked very royal and I am so happy I can finally share!

Mike is a Senior of Chancellor High school and plans to attend a dace school in California
I wish them both the best of luck with their journey through their life.
